LS-50B Luminescence Spectrometer: Precision and Versatility for Reliable Measurements
The LS-50B Luminescence Spectrometer stands out as a top choice for detailed luminescence studies across a wide range of applications. Designed with optimal precision and reliability, the LS-50B integrates advanced technology for measuring fluorescence, phosphorescence, chemiluminescence, and bioluminescence with exceptional accuracy.
At the core of the LS-50B is its xenon discharge lamp, delivering a powerful light pulse equivalent to 20 kW over a duration of 8 µs. This high-intensity pulse ensures that even weak luminescent signals are detected with high sensitivity. The lamp's pulse width is remarkably narrow, less than 10 µs, minimizing signal noise and enhancing measurement precision.
The LS-50B features a sophisticated detection system including a gated photomultiplier with a modified S5 response, capable of detecting wavelengths up to approximately 650 nm. For extended detection, an optional red-sensitive R928 photomultiplier can be fitted, extending the operational range to 900 nm. This versatility allows for precise detection across a broad range of luminescent emissions.
The spectrometer uses Monk-Gillieson type monochromators for both excitation and emission, providing flexibility and precision in wavelength selection. The excitation monochromator covers a range from 200 to 800 nm, while the emission monochromator can handle 200 to 650 nm with the standard photomultiplier or 200 to 900 nm with the optional R928 photomultiplier. Synchronous scanning capabilities allow for constant wavelength or constant energy difference measurements, increasing the instrument's versatility.
Wavelength accuracy and reproducibility are key features of the LS-50B, with an accuracy of ±1.0 nm and reproducibility of ±0.5 nm. This ensures that measurements are both precise and consistent over time. The spectral bandpass is adjustable with excitation slits ranging from 2.5 to 15.0 nm and emission slits from 2.5 to 20.0 nm, allowing users to fine-tune their measurements according to specific needs.
The phosphorescence mode of the LS-50B enables detailed studies of delayed luminescence. Users can adjust delay and gate times to measure phosphorescence with a minimum total period of 13.0 ms (50 Hz), allowing for high-resolution analysis of phosphorescent samples.
Scanning speed is adjustable from 10 to 1500 nm/min in 1 nm increments, and time-dependent data can also be collected. This flexibility accommodates a wide range of experimental needs and enhances the instrument's utility in various research scenarios.
For enhanced analysis, the LS-50B includes computer-selectable emission filters with cut-off wavelengths at 290, 350, 390, 430, and 515 nm. Additional features include a blank filter acting as a shutter, a 1% T attenuator, and a clear beam position, contributing to the accuracy and convenience of measurements.
The LS-50B is designed for ease of use with a water thermostattable cell holder for 10 mm cuvettes. The spectrometer is connected to a personal computer (PC), facilitating control and data analysis. The sample compartment is easily accessible, and a variety of sampling accessories can be installed to accommodate different experimental setups.
