SCM1000 degasser: reliable degassing performance for optimised chromatography
The SpectraSystem SCM1000 is a vacuum membrane degasser specifically developed for HPLC systems. Its main function is to remove dissolved gases from solvents before they enter the mobile phase. If not removed, these gases can compromise flow stability, impair detector performance, generate harmful bubbles and reduce the service life of chromatographic columns.
Equipped with four separate channels, the SCM1000 allows simultaneous degassing of multiple solvents. Each channel incorporates a thin tubular membrane surrounded by a partial vacuum chamber, where dissolved gases diffuse through the wall to be sucked out by an internal vacuum pump. This system ensures constant degassing without solvent loss, unlike helium degassing, which involves partial evaporation. The SCM1000 can also be configured in parallel to increase flow rate or handle solvents with high gas solubility, such as methanol or hexane.
Thanks to its pre-installed and numbered inlet and outlet lines (A to D), the SCM1000 is easy and flexible to install. The inlet/outlet pairs are bidirectional, making them easy to adapt to different locations. LED indicators on the front panel (Power, Run, Ready) provide real-time information on the vacuum status. An integrated leak detector ensures system safety by automatically shutting down the pump in the event of liquid intrusion into the lines.
Compatible with flow rates of up to 5 mL/min per channel, the SCM1000 can reach 6 mL/min in a suitable configuration, with premixed or identical solvents. It is designed for continuous use, even during bottle filling, ensuring consistent performance without interrupting the flow.
Manufactured from chemical-resistant materials (Teflon® FEP/TFE and titanium), the SCM1000 also complies with CE and FCC standards. It fits perfectly into laboratories concerned with quality and analytical safety, ensuring optimal and reliable degassing.
