STA System: precise and comfortable dental anaesthesia
Milestone's STA System (Single Tooth Anaesthesia) is a computerised local anaesthesia delivery device specifically designed for targeted dental procedures, particularly intraligamentary injection. Combined with The Wand® handpiece, this system replaces traditional syringes with precise flow and pressure control technology, offering a less invasive, more comfortable and better tolerated alternative for patients.
This system is the only one to incorporate patented Dynamic Pressure Sensing™ (DPS) technology, which provides real-time feedback on pressure at the needle tip. This feature allows for accurate localisation of the periodontal ligament and maintains a consistent injection at the correct location, while avoiding overpressure that could cause pain or anaesthetic failure.
The device offers three injection modes: STA Mode, with active pressure detection; Normal Mode, with two flow rates; and Turbo Mode, with three speeds. In STA Mode, the practitioner receives audible (PDL-type sound signal for the periodontal ligament) and visual (coloured LEDs) guidance to ensure the needle is in the correct position. Cruise Control allows for a constant injection without having to press the pedal continuously.
The ergonomic design of The Wand® stylet promotes a "pen-like" grip, ensuring high precision of movement. The user can also rotate the needle axially or bidirectionally to avoid any deviation, thus facilitating insertion even in hard-to-reach areas. The slow injection speed significantly reduces the pain associated with the flow of anaesthetic.
The STA System also offers features such as AutoPurge, manual purge, multi-cartridge management, automated aspiration, and an interactive training mode for safe learning of the system.
Fully microprocessor-controlled, this device allows for smoother and more predictable administration of anaesthetics, reducing the volumes required while promoting faster and more localised anaesthesia. It is therefore the clinical tool of choice for dentists who are concerned about precision and patient comfort.
