Agilent's G1316C Thermostatted Column Compartment, an essential component of the 1290 Infinity range, provides high-performance thermal control of columns for high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) systems. Designed to meet the most stringent thermal stability requirements, it delivers exceptional accuracy and reproducibility in chromatographic analyses.
This compartment uses a Peltier system for heating and cooling, maintaining temperatures from 10°C below ambient to 100°C. This wide temperature range, combined with ±0.05°C stability, ensures remarkable retention time consistency, even under the most demanding analytical conditions. This device is particularly useful for method development, high-throughput analysis or complex sample preparation applications.
The G1316C can accommodate up to three 30 cm columns, while minimising dead volumes thanks to its optimised design. It is equipped with two low internal volume heat exchangers (3 µL and 6 µL), allowing precise thermal control of the incoming solvent. For applications requiring minimal dispersion, an additional very low-volume heat exchanger (1.6 µL) can be integrated.
Among its innovations, the G1316C includes an electronic column identification system via RFID tags. This allows automatic tracking of critical parameters for each column (number of injections, geometry, stationary phase, maximum pressure, etc.) and ensures traceability in accordance with good laboratory practice (GLP).
The module can be equipped with optional fast switching valves (6 or 10 ports), ideal for sample enrichment, cleaning complex matrices or alternating columns. These valves enable automation of chromatographic processes, reducing downtime and increasing productivity.
The G1316C also stands out for its compatibility with bio-inert systems, thanks to the use of materials such as PEEK or ceramic in dedicated versions. This guarantees perfect chemical inertness for sensitive biological samples.
