The HistosPRO by Milestone is a microwave-based tissue processor specifically designed for the rapid processing of biological samples without the need for a vacuum module. Developed to meet the increasing demands of histopathology laboratories for speed, standardization, and reliability, it processes samples up to 3 mm thick, ensuring uniform temperature distribution through its magnetic stirrer and infrared control system, thereby avoiding hot spots and treatment inconsistencies.
Unlike modified commercial microwave units, the HistosPRO is a robust solution engineered exclusively for professional laboratory use. It features a shielded cavity, active vapor extraction, and contact-free automatic temperature control, enabling safe, autonomous operation even under intensive use.
The system is operated via an intuitive touchscreen interface (Touch Control Terminal S) running on Windows CE, equipped with a full-color display, 78 preloaded protocols, and the ability to store over 100 custom programs. Each protocol follows a “time-to-temperature” logic, ensuring consistent results regardless of tissue type or density.
The HistosPRO is compatible with a complete range of dedicated Histomodules, tailored for different sample types and volumes—fixation, decalcification, paraffin embedding, special stains, and impregnation techniques. Protocols can be launched in just a few taps, and the system includes user management features, program tracking, and built-in wax cleaning functions.
