Tornado™ – A complete and intelligent solution for hospital hygiene
The Tornado™ series of washer-disinfectors developed by Arjo is a solution for cleaning and disinfecting human waste containers such as bedpans and urine bottles. With its ergonomic design, advanced technology and durable materials, this series meets the most stringent requirements for hospital hygiene.
Designed to minimise manual handling and optimise disinfection routines, Tornado™ models incorporate features that reduce the risk of cross-contamination. These include automatic door opening via an infrared sensor or foot pedal to avoid manual contact, and automatic disinfection of the piping system (PSD) to ensure that germs are eliminated throughout the entire circuit, including fixed and rotating nozzles.
Disinfection performance is rigorously certified, with a 5 log (99.999%) reduction in Clostridium difficile and a 6 log (99.9999%) reduction in parvovirus. This level of effectiveness also covers other common pathogenic viruses , such as rotavirus, adenovirus, norovirus and coronavirus.
The Tornado™ offers up to 22 cleaning programmes, selectable according to the level of contamination and configurable via three main buttons: economy, normal and intensive. These programmes are optimised for maximum efficiency with minimal water consumption: only 11 litres for the economy programme. HEPA (H13) air ventilation at the end of the cycle allows the containers to cool quickly, enabling immediate reuse.
To ensure rigorous monitoring, each disinfection cycle can be recorded via a printer or USB port. This level of traceability is essential to meet the growing regulatory requirements in healthcare facilities.
The models are available in two configurations: free-standing and under-counter (built-in). Depending on requirements, the frame can be made of polymer or stainless steel, but the interior chamber is always made of stainless steel to ensure maximum hygiene. Finally, thanks to their low energy consumption (0.16 kWh/cycle), Tornado™ units offer excellent value for money, while complying with EN ISO 15883-1 and 15883-3 standards and the European Medical Devices Regulation 2017/745.
