Shimadzu TOC-VCPN: Reliable Measurements for Demanding Laboratories
The Shimadzu TOC-VCPN is a PC-controlled laboratory analyzer specifically designed for Total Organic Carbon (TOC) measurement in aqueous samples. Using high-temperature catalytic combustion at 680 °C combined with non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) detection, it accurately quantifies Total Carbon (TC), Inorganic Carbon (IC), TOC, Non-Purgeable Organic Carbon (NPOC), and optionally, Total Nitrogen (TN).
This model is ideal for environmental, pharmaceutical, industrial, and academic laboratories aiming to automate carbon analysis while ensuring high reproducibility. The TOC-VCPN offers a wide measurement range, up to 25,000 mg/L for TOC and 3,000 mg/L for IC, making it suitable for both ultra-pure water and highly contaminated samples.
The system features automatic sample injection with adjustable volumes (10 to 150 µL), internal programmable dilution (factor 2 to 50), and automated IC pretreatment through acidification and sparging. This high level of automation significantly reduces manual handling, minimizes risk of error, and ensures consistent analytical throughput.
With a rapid analysis time—approximately 3 minutes for TC and 4 minutes for IC—the TOC-VCPN allows for efficient sample batch processing, especially when paired with the ASI-V autosampler. The use of purified air as a carrier gas at 300 kPa simplifies installation, requiring no specialty gases.
The control software enables protocol customization, calibration tracking, data export, and multi-user management. This ensures full traceability and regulatory compliance in quality-controlled environments.
Compact and robust, the TOC-VCPN easily integrates into any laboratory workspace. It is a reliable choice for laboratories seeking a fully automated TOC analyzer that delivers precision, flexibility, and high performance for carbon analysis in water samples.
