Hach 2100 N – Laboratory turbidimeter for accurate turbidity measurements
The Hach 2100 N is a laboratory turbidimeter designed to provide accurate, stable and reproducible measurements in a variety of water analysis contexts. Thanks to its patented optical system, it accurately determines the turbidity of samples, whether drinking water, municipal wastewater, industrial water or process water. Its design and performance make it a benchmark instrument in water treatment laboratories, production plants and environmental research facilities.
This model uses a tungsten lamp as its light source, meeting the strict requirements of the EPA 180.1 method. The device's design includes a nephelometric detector positioned at 90° to the incident light beam, complemented by transmitted light and forward scatter detectors. This architecture provides increased accuracy across the entire measurement range and compensates for undesirable effects related to sample colour.
The 2100 N features a ratio measurement mode , which improves the linearity of results and calibration stability. This mode is particularly useful for measuring high turbidity or in the presence of colouration. The instrument can measure values up to 4,000 NTU in ratio mode and up to 40 NTU in conventional nephelometric mode. It features a high-resolution display capable of reading down to 0.001 NTU in the lowest ranges, enabling the detection of minute variations.
To ensure measurement reliability, the 2100 N is designed to operate even under variable temperature conditions. It incorporates an air purge system to prevent condensation in the sample chamber, which is crucial when analysing hot or cold samples. The device also supports the use of StablCal standards, a stabilised formazine solution patented by Hach, which offers unrivalled stability and reproducibility, greatly simplifying preparation and calibration.
Easy to use, the turbidimeter is equipped with dedicated keys to quickly select the measurement range, activate or deactivate ratio mode, or activate signal averaging to smooth out reading variations. Calibration is performed directly from the keypad, without complex mechanical adjustments. An RS232 port allows data to be transferred to a computer or printer, facilitating integration into an analytical monitoring system.
The 2100 N's housing is made of impact-resistant polycarbonate, offering both lightness and robustness. Its compact size and mechanical stability make it suitable for demanding laboratory environments. It is available with a complete set of accessories for immediate use, including borosilicate glass sample cells, a complete kit of StablCal primary standards in sealed vials, silicone oil to optimise measurements and a detailed user manual.
The Hach 2100 N combines accuracy, ease of use and regulatory compliance, making it one of the most reliable instruments for laboratory turbidity analysis. Its design, focused on stability and reproducibility, guarantees consistent results over time, making it the preferred choice for water quality control professionals.
