ULTRA-TURRAX® Tube Drive: the disposable and safe solution for sample dispersion and homogenisation
IKA's ULTRA-TURRAX® Tube Drive (UTTD) revolutionises sample processing in the laboratory with a unique concept based on hermetically sealable disposable tubes. Unlike conventional systems, which require rigorous cleaning and are exposed to cross-contamination risks, the UTTD uses single-use tubes, eliminating any risk of contact with hazardous substances or interference between samples. This device offers optimal safety for the user while ensuring perfectly reproducible test conditions thanks to precise control of time, speed and energy applied.
Operation is simple: after selecting the type of tube (ST, DT or BMT depending on the application), the sample is inserted into the tube and secured to the drive unit. The user then sets the parameters via the LED or OLED display, depending on the version selected, and starts the process. Once completed, an audible signal indicates the end of the operation, and the tube can be removed, stored or analysed without direct contact with the contents.
The Tube Drive Control version goes even further with a multilingual OLED display, recordable programmes, a USB interface for monitoring and documenting experiments, a turbo function for intensive short-term processing, and automatic reversal of the direction of rotation, which is useful for complex mixtures. The unit is also equipped with a drip tray to prevent accidental spillage.
Compatible with 20 or 50 ml tubes, the UTTD can handle volumes ranging from 2 to 50 ml. The tubes are available in a gamma-sterilised version with a pierceable membrane and various internal devices (agitator, rotor-stator, glass or steel beads), depending on the nature of the sample and the purpose of the test.
This system is designed to meet the strict requirements of laboratories in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, human and veterinary medicine, ecology, the chemical industry, agri-food and environmental analysis.
