Milli-Q Academic System: A Reliable Solution for Ultrapure Water in the Laboratory
The Milli-Q Academic water purification system by Millipore is designed to deliver ultrapure water directly at the point of use, meeting or exceeding the highest quality standards, including ASTM Type I specifications. It is perfectly suited for analytical, biological, and pharmaceutical laboratories requiring high-purity water for critical applications.
Compact and ergonomic, the Milli-Q Academic delivers a flow rate of 1.3 to 1.7 L/min, while ensuring a minimum resistivity of 18.0 MΩ·cm at 25 °C (typically 18.2 MΩ·cm). It can be equipped with either a Millipak® final filter for particle and bacteria removal, or a BioPak™ cartridge, recommended for applications sensitive to endotoxins and pyrogens.
The system relies on a combination of high-performance consumables: a Q-Gard® purification pack for the removal of ions and organic compounds, followed by a Quantum™ cartridge that enhances purification by targeting trace ions and total organic carbon (TOC). The choice of Q-Gard 1 or 2 and Quantum EX, IX, or VX allows for system configuration according to the feed water quality.
Resistivity and temperature are measured by an integrated sensor with automatic temperature compensation. An electric valve at the outlet ensures simple operation via the point-of-use (POU) dispenser, while the LCD display provides clear readouts of water quality parameters.
Quiet in operation (42 dB at 1 meter), the device operates on 120 or 230 V, and is easily installed on a benchtop or wall-mounted. Consumable replacement is intuitive, and the system provides automatic alerts when changes are required.
By delivering optimal water quality (TOC < 10 ppb, <1 particle/ml >0.22 μm, <1 CFU/ml), the Milli-Q Academic ensures reproducibility and reliability of experimental results, even under the most demanding research conditions.
