Dräger VentStar Oxylog: a reliable disposable ventilation system for emergency transport
The VentStar® Oxylog® from Dräger is an essential ventilation solution for emergency medical transport, both in-hospital and out-of-hospital. This disposable breathing circuit system is designed to establish an effective and secure connection between the patient and the Oxylog® series of transport ventilators, ensuring reliable respiratory care in the most critical situations.
Thanks to its compatibility with the Oxylog 2000 plus, Oxylog 3000 and Oxylog 3000 plus ventilators, the VentStar Oxylog integrates seamlessly with Dräger devices, reinforcing a harmonised and secure care strategy. It meets the high demands of emergency medical interventions where responsiveness, reliability and hygiene are paramount. Each system is ready to use straight out of the box, saving valuable time in situations where every second counts.
The VentStar Oxylog is also available in a paediatric version, with reduced dead space and appropriate compliance, allowing ventilation of patients with tidal volumes ranging from 50 ml to 250 ml. This feature is crucial for neonatal and paediatric emergency care, particularly with Oxylog 3000 ventilators (from software version 1.20 onwards). This flexibility highlights the versatility of the system, which can be used on different patient groups while ensuring consistent performance.
Safety of use is guaranteed by the integration of a flow sensor and an expiratory valve that are perfectly adapted to the requirements of the devices. The block-type connector ensures a quick and reliable connection to the ventilator's flow sensor lines. All components in contact with respiratory gas are manufactured without PVC, eliminating the risks associated with plasticisers such as DEHP and reducing exposure to potentially harmful substances.
In terms of hygiene, the use of single-use circuits greatly reduces the risk of cross-infection, while simplifying cleaning and consumable management procedures. The circuit is designed for convenient storage and handling, facilitating hospital logistics, particularly in emergency departments, mobile units and ambulances.
The design and materials used are rigorously selected to ensure minimal resistance to inhalation and exhalation, allowing optimal respiratory comfort for the patient. The circuit can withstand a wide range of environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure), making it a robust and reliable solution for use in extreme conditions.
