Essilor Visiotest C77: the fast, reliable and versatile visual screening tool
The Visiotest C77 from Essilor is a benchmark medical device for professional vision screening. Designed to meet the needs of opticians, health centres, occupational physicians and companies concerned about the visual well-being of their employees, this device allows a complete set of vision tests to be carried out in just a few minutes, without the need for immediate specialist consultation.
Thanks to its intuitive and ergonomic design, the Visiotest C77 guides the operator through six main tests covering most essential visual functions: monocular and binocular visual acuity, astigmatism, red/green (duochrome) test, colour vision according to the Ishihara method, phoria (alignment of visual axes) and near vision. Each assessment is designed to be quick, reliable and easy to interpret thanks to the reading grids and control table included with the device.
From a technical standpoint, the Visiotest C77 uses an optimised lighting system at 250 cd/m² to ensure optimal reading of the optotypes. The contrast is calibrated to an ideal level for near vision testing, and the integrated macro lenses allow for more accurate detection of certain conditions or visual compensations such as hyperopia. The interface is entirely mechanical, with no screen or software to configure, making it easy to install and maintain.
Patient comfort is also at the heart of the device. The rubber forehead rest, stable eyepieces and height adjustment of the device allow each individual to be examined in the right conditions. An adjustable stand ensures the correct eye position during each test, while the operating instructions are designed to minimise human error.
The device is designed for both distance and near vision, with identical tests performed in both configurations, enabling the detection of functional disorders that are often overlooked during rapid screening. The assessment can be performed with or without visual correction to measure the effectiveness of the patient's glasses or detect a need for correction.
Used in many medical environments, the Visiotest C77 is recognised for its reliability, portability and simplicity. It is also compatible with the Campitest module (optional), which extends screening to the horizontal peripheral visual field.
