Vivalytic – A compact solution for automated molecular diagnostics
Vivalytic is a fully automated PCR analyser that transforms molecular diagnostics into a simple, fast and centralised procedure. Developed by Bosch in collaboration with Randox, this device is based on more than 35 years of expertise in molecular biology to meet the growing clinical needs for infectious disease screening. This all-in-one system automatically performsnucleic acid extraction, PCR amplification and detection using precise methods, all without the need for complex manual handling or additional equipment.
Vivalytic uses preloaded cartridges that are compatible with different test formats (Hi-Plex and Lo-Plex), enabling targeted or multiplexed analyses according to clinical needs. Hi-Plex cartridges incorporate Randox's Biochip Array technology, which can deliver multiple results simultaneously from a single sample using a 9x9 mm ceramic biochip containing up to 44 separate test zones. Each zone is dedicated to a pathogen or resistance marker, and detection signals are captured via a chemiluminescence-sensitive CCD camera.
The workflow has been designed to optimise the user experience: the professional enters the patient and test data, inserts the sample into the cartridge, closes the lid and starts the analysis. Vivalytic takes care of the rest, right up to displaying the results on the integrated touchscreen. Its wireless connectivity allows multiple analysers to be managed simultaneously via a single master interface. The entire system is designed to operate without a keyboard, computer or scanner, reducing the risk of cross-contamination and facilitating cleaning.
Suitable for a wide variety of samples (blood, urine, swabs, BAL, sputum), the Vivalytic can be used in hospital, outpatient or primary care settings. It supports an extensive test menu, including respiratory infections (14 viruses and 8 bacteria), STIs (10 pathogens), urinary tract infections (20 bacteria, 1 fungus, 8 resistance markers) and nosocomial infections such as MRSA. It is also compatible with Vivasuite, a secure digital ecosystem for remote equipment monitoring, software update management and service optimisation.
