WILDER lacrimal dilator – Smooth-tipped model for atraumatic insertion
The WILDER dilator offered by Frimed is a specialised ophthalmic instrument designed for dilating the lacrimal ducts. It is commonly used during probing, irrigation or diagnostic examinations of the lacrimal ducts. This model features a very tapered conical shape with a particularly fine tip, allowing for gradual and precise insertion without traumatising the delicate tissue of the canal.
Among the three variants in the WILDER range, this model stands out for its almost smooth tip, with very few grooves on the insertable surface. This feature makes it the preferred choice in situations where friction must be kept to a minimum, particularly during initial dilation attempts or on very narrow or inflamed ducts.
The instrument handle is equipped with transverse grooves to ensure a good grip, even when wearing medical gloves. This texture on the grip does not interfere with the working part, ensuring precise control of the movement while reducing hand fatigue.
This dilator can be used alone or as part of a series of probes of increasing sizes. Its slim shape and smooth finish make it a discreet but highly effective tool for professionals who prefer a gentle and meticulous approach. It is an excellent starting point for progressive dilation protocols.
