On April 5, 1919, Frank J. Cozzoli Sr. founded Cozzoli Machine Company, originally named Modern Machine & Tool Company. Initially operating as a machine shop, the company soon began manufacturing its own equipment. One of its first successes was an award-winning fruit press, which gained recognition at the 1926 International Exposition in Brussels.

By the 1930s, Modern Machine & Tool had expanded into the pharmaceutical industry, supplying high-quality machinery worldwide. Over time, these became known as “Cozzoli” machines, leading to the company officially adopting the name Cozzoli Machine Company in 1955.

CMC continued its growth and, in 1983, acquired MRM/Elgin, a manufacturer of automatic filling machines for the food, cosmetic, and industrial sectors. This strategic expansion allowed Cozzoli to diversify beyond pharmaceuticals and broaden its industry reach.
