Rad-5 Pulse Oximeter – Mobile Reliability for Vital Sign Monitoring
The Masimo Rad-5 is a portable pulse oximeter that meets clinical requirements for non-invasive monitoring of oxygen saturation and heart rate. Developed for use in a variety of care settings, this device combines compact size, extended battery life and measurement quality, even in complex situations such as patient movement or low peripheral perfusion. Thanks to Masimo SET® Measure-through Motion and Low Perfusion™ technology, the Rad-5 provides accurate and rapid assessment, reducing the risk of misinterpretation.
Designed to fit comfortably in the hand, the Rad-5 features a clear LED interface that displays saturation, pulse, perfusion index, alarms and battery status in real time. The professional can adjust the device's sensitivity in three modes – APOD, Normal and MAX – to adapt the measurements to the patient's profile. It also offers a SmartTone feature, synchronised with the patient's pulse, which emits an audible signal even when the patient is moving, to guide the clinician in active monitoring.
The device includes a Signal I.Q.® signal quality indicator, which allows the reliability of SpO₂ data to be assessed in real time. The Rad-5 also features FastSat®, a tool that detects and tracks rapid changes in arterial oxygenation. With up to 72 hours of trend memory at two-second resolution, data can be analysed on compatible software (Masimo TrendCom™), optimising continuity of care.
This monitor runs on AA alkaline batteries and offers over 30 hours of battery life, making it particularly suitable for intra-hospital transport or mobile situations. Configurable audible and visual alarms alert you to abnormal saturation or heart rate, low battery, or disconnected sensor. Standby mode allows you to disable audible signals and dim the brightness for night-time use or in sensitive care units.
The Rad-5 is certified to comply with current electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility standards. It is suitable for a wide range of patients, from newborns to adults, and can operate in a wide range of temperatures and altitudes. This robust, lightweight and easy-to-use device fits perfectly into hospital environments, emergency rooms or home care settings.
